Amazing place. The name at first made me think the place would be a run down sushi stop. However, the inside has a very nice subtle setting. The staff is kind and very nice and the sushi was amazing. I had the salmon skin crunch roll and was amazed by it's taste . I would recommend this place for a couple looking for a nice cheap day out for sushi

One of Pleasant Hill's hidden gems. Jo consistently picks high quality fish that rivals some of the best in the bay. But don't go there expecting a dragon roll. This is a true Japanese sushi restaurant.

Absolutely my favorite Sushi restaurant in East Bay Area! This is an authentic Japanese restaurant owned by Japanese. When I crave for sushi, this is where I go. Fresh fish and good presentation. Very traditional Japanese restaurant and my son loves their Chicken Teriyaki! Highly recommend if you are looking for authentic great Sushi restaurant.

Great place. Friendly, fast & cozy casual Sushi bar. Has a variety of other courses for those who prefer something other than Sushi. Fun fact, u can create your own sushi dish , name it and they will display the ingredients for others to try. 👍👍👍

Awesome fresh fish specials. Skip the generic rolls and go for the nigiri specials! They aren't on the menu = look for the signs.

My favorite sushi restaurant. Joe and staff are the best - food is always fresh - lots of yummy specialties to try when at the bar - we always ask Joe to surprise us - never been disappointed!

Very fresh Sushi. Nice establishment. The bathroom has a bidet and heated seats. They are not always focused on presentation, but the quality and taste is good. If you try to order a second serving our course of Sushi expect a longer wait.

Great food and great service

As a Japanese-American, it's VERY important to me to find know Japanese are making my Japanese food. Jo's is one of the very rare places where this happens. Excellent sushi (the rice is awesome), and the customer service is amazing. Customers can store a bottle of sake at the restaurant with a corkage fee, and enjoy it every time they visit. Great place. Only complaint: it's so busy! But rightfully so.

My first visit and I will be back! The food was fresh and delicious. My friend and I shared Edamame, Wasabi Spinach, Spider Roll, Bubba Gump Roll, Anago, Jo's Eye Balls, Maguro, Faroe Salmon and the Green Tea Cheesecake. We throughly enjoyed it all. Jo's has items I've not seen on any other sushi menu and it was fun adventuring into new flavors.

Best sushi in the area. One thing to call out, the best part about this place is its simplicity of its rolls. It is all about the yummy fish options, not the deep fried, baked, covered in sauce, etc roles.

Been coming here for literally decades. Feels like home, and Jo always has unique specials and amazingly fresh fish at some pretty competitive prices. Non sushi fair is also delicious. Worth the trip if you're anywhere in the Bay.

Best sushi around, hands down. The sashimi special is on point, and I could eat the Barry Banzai roll every day.

Absolutely the BEST Japanese Restaurant in the bay area. Please make a reservation before going.

In retrospect we should have just walked out. As soon as you walk in you juts notice clutter and junk everywhere. It also feels more like a Chinese restaurant from the 80's than a sushi place. When we sat down and picked up the menus they had grease and food stuck to all of them. Under the table glass cover is more clutter with advertisements of drinks available and random pictures. From the table vantage point you observe the restaurant filled with handwritten signs and hats on the wall and just question your decision to come to this dirty place. The pricing is about 1.5x that of all other sushi places in the area and for what reason I have no idea. We ordered some yakatori and Tuna rolls. The tubs rolls fall apart the second you touch them, you would think the older gentleman making the sushi was just learning was he was doing. The yakatori was flavorless as best. There was absolutely nothing to write home about and I will never come back and waste my money or appetite here again.

Your missing out if you don't try . Everything is so fresh and perfectly prepared.

Sushi is a staple, when I eat out with my wife. We hardly ever try a new place, but we took a place on what is by far a hidden gem in our neighborhood. What turned into one visit turned into 2 and pretty soon we didn't miss our old place. A great place with a natural friendly ambience and never gets too crowded even on Fridays and Saturdays when we usually go. Please try the Saba, it's fatty and rich but flavorful, definitely recommended on your chest day!

I was inside waiting for my takeout order to be ready. The tables were full and sushi bar was full. Everyone seem to be really enjoying themselves and I said to my wife I love the busy energy of this place. The woman next to us commented: that's because it's the best sushi around. Then she said I've been all over the world and this is the best sushi restaurant I've ever been in. ......This place has to be felt to be believed... I'm going to leave my review at that.

Everything is sooo good !

They keep charging my debit card. I went there once in the beginning of December 2017 and have been charged the same dollar amount 2 additional times. They don't answer the phone and I live an hour away. Now I have to drive out of the way to correct the issue.

Jo's sushi bar is an authentic Japanese on restaurant. The Sushi is fresh and some sushi is direct from Japan. I've had sushi at a lot of Japanese restaurants but they have a nice variety of raw fish like Toro and amber jack. They had uni from Japan. Great service! I highly recommend it!

Amazing sushi place. Great food. Wine selection not great, but not going there for the wine. Sake selection small but good.
